This past Friday night feature a Wolf Pack win as the club pull out a 3-2 overtime victory against the Utica Comets.  Ryan Sproul had a pair of goals in regulation.  Filip Chytil had the game winning goal in overtime to snap a three game skid for Hartford.  Marek Mazanec played for 50:58 before getting injured as he stops 27 of 29 shots.  Alexandar Georgiev played the rest of the game 10:12 to earn the victory in net, stopping two of two shots.

Game Recap

The first had limited whistles.  There was quality back and forth action.  At 12:26, Ryan Sproul gave Hartford a 1-0 lead with a terrific shot on net.  Adam Chapie and Filip Chytil recorded the assists,.  He scored the lone goal in the first.  Both goalies were on point, with surges in moments for each side.  Shots favor the Comets 14-12.

The second had the same pace as the first.  Both clubs had good back and forth action.  There was not much going on, except clean hockey.  At 16:04, Hartford crash the crease was rewarded.  Ryan Sproul tapped the puck in net during the play to extend Hartford’s lead to 2-0.  Cristoval Nieves and Joe Whitney recorded the assists on the power play.  Shots favor were tied apiece at 22-22.

The third became interesting.  The Comets tied the game in the first half of the third.  At 6:55 the Comets got on the board.  Then in a brief surge, Utica got on the board once again to tie the game at two.  The Comets were pressuring Hartford and Marek Mazanec.  Unfortunately, he was hurt after stopping the puck.  Alexandar Georgiev had to play and did good.  The rest of the third was scoreless as Hartford played with caution.  Shots favor Hartford 30-29.

Filip Chyti register the game winning goal 1:10 in the extra session.  He skated in and had a great snipe to end the game.  Neal Pionk and Cole Schneider were given the assists.  Pack win 3-2.  Shots were tied apiece at 31.

Final Thoughts

Strong win by the Pack.  Despite giving up the lead in the third, the group came back.  Hartford also snapped a three game losing streak.

The Pack are back at it on Sunday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 5:00 pm.
