The Wolf Pack finish their four game road trip yesterday. On that span, Hartford has gone 1-3 on the trip. In the last 10 games, the club has won the last two of ten games. Yesterday afternoon was not great. The Springfield Thunderbirds whipped the Wolf Pack by the final of 5-1. Joe Whitney scored the lone tally. Marek Mazanec records the loss in net, stopping 38 of 43 shots.
The undisciplined Pack was one of the stories last night. Springfield grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the contest at 3:23 on the power play. Hartford was struggling a bit in the first. Springfield had the better tempo and plays. At 13:55, Joe Whitney tied the game at one with a rebound. The captain notch his ninth goal of the season, with the assists two Adam Tambellini and Neal Pionk. The rest of the first was scoreless. This was the best period from the day. Shots favor the Pack 10-8.
The Thunderbirds grabbed total control of the second and third. Hartford was outshot 25-2 in the second. Springfield had four goals in the frame. Hartford was melting down and they were looking awful. No defense, no goaltending, nothing.
Springfield tackled another goal at 11:48 in the third to extend their lead to 5-1. Hartford shot on net, hoping something will generate. Nothing did unfortunately. After all said and done, the losing streak continues. Shots favor the Thunderbirds 43-27.
This was one of the worst games of the season. Unacceptable. There is nothing positive coming from the game.
The Pack are back at it on Friday against the Utica Comets at 7:15 pm.
