The Wolf Pack hit another skid.  They dropped a 4-2 decision against the Hershey Bears with a wild ending.  Chris Nell soaks the loss in net, stopping 25 of 28 shots on goal.  Cole Schneider and Scott Kosmachuk scored for the club.  The Pack are back at it tomorrow night against Providence.

Game Recap

The first twenty was quiet and calm.  The pace of the game was slow.  The first twenty was scoreless as well.  Both clubs swapped chances that were similar.  Shots favor the Bears 12-6 after one.

The second period began the scoring.  A low shot beats Chris Nell early in the frame at 4:31.  The Pack had a few power play chances and the unit was not well oiled.  The Pack were sloppy and plays were not connecting.  There was a lack of shooting on net as well and too many passing, which was a theme of the night.  At 18:45 Hartford got on the board to tie the game.  Cole Schneider had a nice top shelf shot, with assists to Ryan Sproul and Filip Chytil.  Shots favor Hershey 22-13.

The third was quiet until the final five minutes.  Hartford improved in the early stages.  They had the jump.  They had terrific opportunities.  The Bears came close as well.  The final five minutes was something.  At 17:57, Hershey grabbed a 2-1 lead as Chris Nell was screened.  At 18:23, Scott Kosmachuk answers back to tie the game at two, with the assists to Ryan Sproul and Cole Schnedier.  Then at 18:32, Hershey grabbed another lead to retake the lead.  That was a three goal burst within a minute.  It was like the goalies left the nets!  Hartford was bitten at the end as they could not tie the game up again.  At 19:27, Hershey sealed the deal with the empty net goal, 4-2.  Shots favor Hershey 29-23.

Final Thoughts

Flat start, sluggish, and not enough urgency.  The Pack could have played better.  The club was too hesitant to shoot.  Hershey forced many turnovers as the game progressed.  The Pack luckily did not face a tougher opponent, otherwise they could have been wrecked.

The Pack are back at it tomorrow against the Providence Bruins at 7 pm.
