The Wolf Pack finish their Canadian road trip last night.  Unfortunately, they were unable to collect any points up north.  The Pack saw their lead slip late in the third in Belleville against the Senators.  The Pack drop their second straight game, and lose 4-2 against the Senators.  Alexandar Georgiev stop 24 of 27 shots on net.  Scott Kosmachuk and Filip Chytil notch goals.  Hartford finishes their four game road trip tomorrow afternoon in Springfield.

Game Recap

The Pack strike first early in the frame.  Scott Kosmachuk had a nice goal to give Hartford a 1-0 lead 1:32 into the contest.  Neal Pionk had the lone assist.  The Senators answered monetarily at 3:36 to tie the game at one.  The game settled as both clubs swap chances.  There was crisp action on both ends of the ice.  The game was even.  After twenty, the game was tied at one.  Shots favor the Senators 10-9.

The second was scoreless.  Both clubs swap eight shots on goal with equal chances.  The period was calm as there was continual back and forth action.  The club had a late power play in the second which carried over into the third.  Shots favor Belleville 18-17.

The third was disappointing.  The first half of the frame was scoreless.  Hartford raise their game and had plenty of opportunities.  They were coming close.  Alexandar Georgiev was moderately busy in nets periodically.  At 14:14, Filip Chytil had a great shot to give Hartford a 2-1 lead.  Neal Pionk and Dawson Leedahl notch the assists.  Then two minutes later, the Senators tied the game at two.  Then again, Belleville strike at 16:29 to grab a 3-2 lead.  Hartford was stunned with the back to back quick goals by the Senators.  Time was running short.  At 19:23 with the goalie pulled, the Senators sealed the deal with an empty net goal to make the game 4-2 Belleville.  A rough ending to the game.  Shots favor the Pack 32-28.

Final Thoughts

A common theme for Hartford is to lose the lead late in the game.  It happened once again.  They were unable to toughen up on defense.  Another winnable game escapes unfortunately.  It is January, and they are losing critical ground.  Time is ticking before it is too late.

Hartford finishes their four game road trip tomorrow in Springfield to take on the Thunderbirds at 1:05 pm.
