Tonight the Wolf Pack pulled out a 3-2 victory against the Springfield Thunderbirds!  Adam Tambellini recorded a hat trick.  Brandon Halverson earns the win in net, stopping 32 of 34 shots.  A win is a win as Hartford struggled throughout the contest.  They start their four game road-trip on the right foot.  They face Hershey tomorrow night.

Game Recap

The first twenty was sloppy for Hartford.  The Thunderbirds generated quality chances early on.  Brandon Halverson was busy early on, but held down the net well.  At 4:55, the Thunderbirds strike first from a solid chance to make it 1-0 Springfield.  Afterwards there was a few good changes for both clubs.  Then at 13:10, Adam Tambellini cashed in on the power play to tie the game at 1.  The assists were credited to Steven Kampfer & Justin Fontaine.  The rest of the frame was scoreless.  Both clubs had chances.  After twenty, it was deadlocked at one.  Shots favored Springfield 12-6.

The second frame was scoreless.  Springfield had the upper advantage in chances.  Brandon Halverson was making stellar saves.  The physical play increased as well from both clubs.  There was a few huge hits along the boards.  Hartford was faring well so far despite being out-shot by plenty.  They had limited chances, but they were strong ones.  After forty, the score was still deadlocked at one.  Shots favored Springfield 22-12.

The third picked up in action.  Hartford was severely out-shot in the frame but clung on and pulled out a win.  They had four shots on goal, opposed to Springfield’s twelve.  The Thunderbirds were pressuring early on and had strong chances.  Brandon Halverson was working hard to give Hartford a chance.  At 12:30, Springfield grabbed a 2-1 lead.  A short time later on the power play, Adam Tambellini notched his second goal of the game to tie the game at two.  Nicklas Jensen and Spiro Goulakos recorded the assists.  Then a short time later at 16:26, Adam Tambellini recorded his third goal of the game, a hat-trick to give the Pack a 3-2 lead.  He had a great shot and he was rewarded.  Chris Brown and Steven Kampfer recorded the assists.  The rest of the frame was scoreless as Hartford held the lead.  Springfield tried to pressure late but could not get anything going.  After sixty, the Pack found a way to win.  Shots favored Springfield 34-16.

Final Thoughts

Two point is two points.  Adam Tambellini was the team tonight and gave them the win.  A great effort by him.  The Pack lacked chances, but they made the most out of their little.  It was not their best game, but at least they had a solid outcome.  Keep on moving.

They face the Hershey Bears tomorrow at the Giant Center.  Game time is at 7 pm.
