The Wolf Pack snapped their four game losing streak today as they defeated the Binghamton Senators by the final of 3-1!  Magnus Hellberg gets the win in net stopping 26 of 27 shots.  Matt Carey, Steven Fogarty, and Nicklas Jensen recorded tallies for Hartford.  The group returns to action on Wednesday night as they host the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Game Recap

The first twenty was sloppy and not much action was happening.  The Senators scored their first and only goal late in the contest.  Both clubs were fatigued and they had not much left in the tank.  After going back and forth, it was scoreless.  Both clubs had a few chances, especially Hartford early on.  Then the Senators began to pressure by putting more shots on net.  At 18:09, the Senators converted on a pretty cross crease feed to make it 1-0 Binghamton on the power play.  The rest of the frame was scoreless.  After twenty, shots favored Binghamton 14-8.

The second frame was quiet as well.  Both clubs were not doing much.  They both had chances.  It became a bit more defensive because there was lots of forced turnovers from both sides.  Exactly at the halfway point of the frame, Matt Carey converted on an opportunity to tie the game at one.  Ryan Graves and Steven Fogarty recorded the assists.  The rest of the frame was scoreless.  It was still soppy and there was not much in terms of hitting.  After forty, shots favored Binghamton 19-14.

The third was the breakthrough frame for Hartford.  They converted twice in the second half of the frame.  The first half was scoreless.  Both clubs continued to take simple shots.  Both clubs had two power plays.  They kept it simple.  At 13:01, Steven Fogarty gave Hartford a 2-1 lead from a high wrist shot.  Tanner Glass and Chris Brown recorded the assists.  Then at 15:57, Nicklas Jensen extended the lead to two, 3-1 Hartford as he had a great wrist shot goal as well.  John Gilmour recorded the lone assist.  The Pack kept it simple for the rest and pulled away with a win!  After sixty, shots favored the Senators 27-21.

Final Thoughts

The Pack at least salvaged the weekend with one positive, a win on Sunday.  They completed another three in three weekend.  Both clubs had not a lot in them but Hartford deemed to be the winners after all said and done.

The home slate continues this upcoming week with three home games, on Wednesday, Saturday, & Sunday.  On Wednesday the Springfield Thunderbirds visit for a 7 pm game.
