After tonight there are just two games left for the Wolf Pack’s regular season.  Tonight they dropped a 6-3 decision against the Albany Devils.  John Gilmour, Marek Hrivik, and Nicklas Jensen recorded tallies.  Ty Ronning and Tommy Hughes recorded two points, both assists.  Magnus Hellberg was in net stopping 25 of 31 shots.

Game Recap

The first twenty was close.  The Pack had the early edge early on.  Hartford grabbed a quick 1-0 lead 1:46 in the game as John Gilmour had a quick release.  Ty Ronning and Tommy Hughes recorded the assists.  The Pack continued to have solid chances.  The Devils began to pressure back while Magnus Hellberg came up strong when needed.  After good back and forth action the Devils converted on their power play to tie the game at 13:52.  The rest of the frame was scoreless.  Both clubs traded off chances.  After twenty it was deadlocked at one.  Shots favored Albany 9-8.

The Devils had the advantage in the second frame.  However the Pack had another early goal, this time 3:20 in as Marek Hrivik had a terrific shot to give Hartford a 2-1 lead.  Ty Ronning and Tommy Hughes recorded the assists.  The Pack were buzzing.  Then at 6:58 Hartford gave up a short-handed tally as Albany tied the game at two.  The rest of the frame was close.  Both clubs traded off quality chances.  Then late in the frame the Devils notched a power play goal to take a 3-2 lead at 17:08.  The Pack was down by one.  Shots favored Albany 21-18.

The third continued Albany’s advantage.  They continued to convert on their opportunities.  The Devils had an early third period tally at 3:06 to take a 4-2 lead.  Then 5-2 at six minutes.  The Pack had defensive breakdowns.  They had the momentum.  Hartford was struggling.  At 13:55 the Devils notched another tally to make it 6-2 Albany.  Then it was quiet for a bit as it became chippy.  Both clubs had plenty of power plays.  At 19:59 Nicklas Jensen notched his 30th goal of the season to make it 6-3.  Taylor Beck and Michael Paliotta recorded the assists.  It was a power play tally.  That was game.  Shots favored Albany 31-26.

Final Thoughts

The Pack could not keep up with Albany.  The Devils played better as the game went on.  Hartford slipped on their mistakes.

The Pack are in Utica Friday to take on the Comets at 7 pm.
