The Wolf Pack have won three straight! Each game was won in overtime, which sets a franchise record for the club. Wednesday night featured Cole Schneider potting in the game winning goal to give Hartford two points and win, 4-3. Alexandar Georgiev gets the win in net as he stopped 27 of 30 shots. Cole Schneider (2), Adam Tambellini, and Adam Chapie scored for Hartford. The Wolf Pack are moving up in the standings. They are in sixth. The Charlotte Checkers hold the last playoff spot in fourth in the Atlantic Division. Hartford is seven points behind the Checkers. Ironically, the Pack play Charlotte twice this weekend. That is great timing.
Shots on goal was even at 10. Both club exchanged quality chances in the first. After the first period, the game was tied at two. Hartford scored the first two tallies in the contest. First at 8:15 with Cole Schneider converting on a solid opportunity. Filip Chytil and Neal Pionk registered the assists. Then at 10:10, Adam Tambellini deflected Ryan Grave’s shot from the blue line to give Hartford a 2-0 lead. Scott Kosmachuk recorded the secondary assist. About three minutes later, Utica cut into Hartford’s lead, 2-1. Then late in the first, the Comets tied the game at two on the power play.
Hartford had the better advantage in the second. Adam Chapie recorded the lone goal at 14:27 to regain Hartford’s lead, 3-2. Filip Chytil notched the lone assist. The Pack had good chances. Alexandar Georgiev made strong saves with Utica pressured and buzzed. Shots after two favor the Wolf Pack 22-17.
The third was similar to the first. The game was tightly contested. Both clubs had power opportunities. The Comets were pressing in the third, especially in the late stages. Hartford was handling the situation well. Then with under a minute left in regulation, the Comets tied the game at two on the power play. Once again, the game is going into overtime. Shots favor Hartford 32-27.
Overtime did not take long. Cole Schneider at 2:20 ended it, his second goal of the game to give Hartford a 4-3 win. John Gilmour and Lias Andersson recorded the assists. Shots favor Hartford 34-30.
The Pack keep on rolling. Three straight is a good start. They have to keep it going to fight for a playoff spot.
Hartford return to action tomorrow night in Hartford. The Charlotte Checkers visit for the weekend. Game time is at 7:15 pm.
