Russo Has Five-Point Weekend, Leads Notre Dame in Scoring
University of Notre Dame defenseman Robbie Russo helped the Fighting Irish sweep the University of Massachusetts last week after recording five points in a pair of games. The senior blueliner assisted on three goals in a 7-5 win on Friday and scored twice in a 4-0 victory on Saturday. Russo now leads Notre Dame with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 18 games and ranks second in the NCAA in scoring among defensemen. The Islanders selected the Westmount, Illinois native in the fourth round (95th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
Soderstrom Named to Team Sweden
Linus Soderstrom was named to Team Sweden’s preliminary roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships in Toronto and Montreal. Soderstrom was named as one of the team’s three goalies along with Samuel Ward and Jonas Johansson.
Bridgeport Sound Tigers: 12-9-2-1, T-3rd in Northeast Division, T-7th in Eastern Conference
The Sound Tigers finished 1-2-0-0 last weekend, opening the weekend with a loss to the Hershey Bears on Friday and splitting a series with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday and Sunday. Kevin Poulin stopped 27 shots and two shootout attempts in the Sound Tigers lone win, a 3-2 shootout triumph over the Phantoms. C.J. Stretch and Kael Mouillierat scored the shootout, while defenseman Mark Nemec recorded his first AHL in point with an assist on an Aaron Ness goal. The Phantoms avenged the loss with a 5-3 win on Sunday afternoon. Stretch, Harry Zolnierczyk and Ryan Pulock all scored in the loss. With his ninth goal of the season, Pulock maintained his lead in goals among all rookies.

Stockton Thunder: 9-12-1, 7th in Pacific Division, 11th in Western Conference
The Stockton Thunder won one of three games against the Alaska Aces last week. Forward Sebastien Collberg scored the eventual game-winning goal on Sunday and added two assists over the weekend. James Henry and Tyler Shattock both recorded four points in the three-game set while goaltender Kent Simpson turned away 67-of-74 shots in the games he started, going 1-1.
