Post Season Assessment:

This season was Brassard's second career post season and he finished third in goals. With an equal points production to last year, Brassard increased his goal total. After sustaining an "upper body injury" against the Montreal Canadiens, Brassard seemed to slow down on his point production. This seemed to enforce the notion he received a concussion. Though he posted fewer points, Brassard finished the post season working hard every shift and making his presence known on the ice in every shift.

Regular Season Stats:

Games Played: 81

Goals: 18

Assists: 27

PIM: 46

Hits: 124

Blocks: 19

TOI: 15:48 game average

Regular Season Assessment:

Brassard began the season on a half point per game pace, not unlike his previous seasons in the NHL. After being aligned with Mats Zuccarello and Benoit Pouliot on his wings, Brassard became a monster for the Rangers at center. He was strong on the puck, battled in the corners, and came out ready to play his hardest in every shift he logged. He made himself an integral part of the most important line on the team. He finished the regular season fourth in points on the team.

Personal Reactions:

I began the season with very low expectations of Brassard. I thought his contract was a little too high for his production and didn't feel he would be a great loss when the end of the season rolled around. After watching the way Brassard and Zuccarello worked together on the ice I changed my mind, quickly. Brassard is a very important cog in the Rangers' machine, I just hate his impending contract already.
