The National Hockey League announced today that New York Islanders’ forward Anders Lee was named the “Rookie of the Month” for February, 2015.
The 24-year-old Lee, scored at a point-per-game rate through 15 February games, compiling seven goals and eight assists. The Edina, MN, native recorded a pair of two-goal games during the month and posted a career-high, four-assist game on Feb. 14 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Lee’s 20 goals this season rank second on the Islanders and third among all NHL rookies. His six game-winning goals tie him for the team lead and are most among all first-year players.
The Islanders selected Lee in the sixth round, 152nd overall, of the 2009 NHL draft. In 82 career NHL games, he’s scored 30 goals and 19 assists. Prior to his professional career, Lee played three years at Notre Dame from 2010-2013, leading the club in goals during each season and totaling 116 points from 61 goals and 55 assists in 124 career games.
